‘Why military police should be ahead of insurgents’

The Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Military Police (NASMP), Basawa, Zaria, Brigadier General Habila Ventenaba, yesterday said that the sophisticated nature of criminal activities in Nigeria have made it imperative for the military police to work harder.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 1st and 2nd quarter courses of the NASMP, General Ventenaba said proliferation of crime in Nigeria
poses what he called a serious challenge for the Nigerian military police.
“The essence of the courses was to train and produce qualified personnel capable of discharging their responsibilities effectively and efficiently. The current security challenges facing Nigeria require that military personnel should be well trained and equipped with the right type of professional knowledge and expertise”, he said.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Kaduna, Brigadier General Jide Jaleel Ogunlade, described NASMP as path to strengthening Army and paramilitary.
He added; “I wish to congratulate the graduating officers and soldiers for successful completion of the programme and I wish to urge you to make best use of the knowledge you acquired in order to face the challenges ahead. I know the journey has not been easy. However, your determination to succeed in your chosen career has propelled you to work relentlessly.”
