Why last match with Wikki Tourists is must-win – Coach Abdallah

The Technical Adviser of Katsina United, Usman Abdallah, has said the last league match of the 2022 season against Wikki Tourists is a must-win if the ‘Chanji boys’ are to escape relegation.

Speaking to Daily Trust Wednesday ahead of the Sunday clash in Bauchi, the former Enyimba manager said anything less than three points would spell doom for Katsina United.

He, therefore, said Katsina United are going for the maximum points in order to remain in the Nigerian topflight.

While the Tourists are 12th with 49 points from 37 matches, Katsina United are in 15th position with 48 points from the same number of matches.

Since both teams are in danger of being relegated to the lower division, Wikki Tourists and Katsina United have everything to play for in the week 38 fixture.

“Our last league match against Wikki Tourists is like a Cup final. We cannot afford to lose. Some people might be tempted to say we need only a draw but that is not correct.

“If we are to survive, we must go for outright victory against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi. Anything less than that will be dangerous.

“Beginning from Wikki Tourists, nobody is safe, anyone can go down.

“So, this explains why we are left with no alternative than to fight for victory in Bauchi,” said the Super Eagles assistant coach.

Abdallah, however, said even as they have a mountain to climb in Bauchi, Katsina United have the quality to shock Wikki Tourists in front of their teeming fans.
