The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has said Nigeria’s industrialization process had been slow due to weak technological base.
Onu stated this when he received the President of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Babagana Muhammed in his office in Abuja on Tuesday.

He explained that the Executive Order 5 would only be sustainable by bringing Nigerian engineers and scientists to the centre of the country’s economic activities.
He stated that with all the research going on all over the world, new knowledge is coming up and it is important that our engineers be acquainted such innovative knowledge.
The Minister called on the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) and the National Science Engineering and Infrastructure (NASENI) to work in synergy to bring an end to power problems in the country.
Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Babagana Mohammed said the society had created an advocacy platform for exploration and harnessing of regional resources for rapid regional economic development, through collaborations amongst government, academia and industry.
