The candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the March 18 and April 15 National Assembly election for Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, Uche Ogbuagu, said he has filed a petition before the Election Petition Tribunal to challenge the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Akarachi Amadi, as the winner of the election.
He said he has hired three Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) and 24 other senior lawyers to challenge the outcome of the polls in his favour.
Ogbuagu who spoke through his media officer, Obinna Elegalam yesterday said the supplementary election was declared in error to favour the APC candidate, who he said never won.
The LP candidate described the election as a sham and a daylight robbery of the choice of the generality of Mbaike people, stressing that he would follow the matter to a logical conclusion.
He said, “Mbaike mandate cannot be stolen. I have gone to court to reclaim the mandate that the good people of Mbaitoli and Ikeduru willingly gave to me. I won’t leave any stone unturned against the daylight robbery of April 15, 2023 supplementary election.
“I will go to any length to ensure that all that orchestrated the sham are brought to book and made to pay in accordance with the laws of the land.
“I won the main election. I also won the supplementary election. I have my evidence and I will prove that in court. What the people of Mbaike ordered through their organic ballots is what they must get. My evidence is incontrovertible.”
