The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin-ma, Katsina State, Professor Haruna Abdu Kaita, yesterday said he was challenging his suspension at the National Industrial Court, Kano, because he did not commit any wrongdoing.

Speaking with our correspondent in Zaria, the Ahmadu Bello University professor of Pharmacy, said he had been at the court for the past two years in order to clear his name from all allegations levelled against him by the Governing Council of the university.

He said: “We were at the court on Monday (June 24, 2019) for the trial where we presented documents to prove my innocence. The counsel to the university’s Governing Council has rejected the documents on some grounds and the court has fixed July 4, 2019 for ruling and continuation of trial.

“My predicament started because the Council was not comfortable with my principles stands to ensure that things are done accordingly. This brought up the issue of the suspension, which was done to achieve a sinister motive.”

According to him, he will continue to pursue the case until justice is done and he is reinstated as the VC.
