A former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe, said he has made peace with the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Abe and Wike had been at daggers-drawn sequel to their different positions on political issues in the state.
Recall that Abe left the APC to fly the governorship flag of the SDP in the 2023 election, but made a U-turn to the APC after he lost at the poll.
But Abe in a post on his verified Facebook account yesterday said he remained a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, but declared ending his long standing feud with Wike, a former governor of Rivers State.

He explained that his decision to reunite with the APC and support the Chief Tony Okocha led caretaker committee in the state was to end the rift in the party.
Daily Trust reports that Okocha and other members of the Rivers APC Caretaker Committee are Wike’s loyalists even though he (Wike) is still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In the post titled, ‘I have made peace with the minister of FCT and former governor of Rivers State’, Abe said his decision for true reconciliation would enable the APC in Rivers State to benefit from the process of peaceful reunification and reintegration.
The post reads in part, “I accompanied him (Wike) to Chief Tony Okocha’s thanksgiving to show my commitment to end the rifts in our party is total.”
“I want to publicly thank the minister. He could have behaved like other politicians, made peace with me, and still encouraged me, Tony and others to continue fighting (You bring Magnus in the morning through one door, then bring Tony in the evening through the other door). But his style is direct, truthful and sincere, and it will create a united team.
“The disagreement within is over and gone for good, because the oxygen for conflict has been extinguished.
“It may take a little while but the end result is that all those with us, who sincerely wish us well will go with us and tow the path of unity because we all know that it is the right way to go.”
