Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has named his twins after President Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Umar Tanko Al-Makura.
The twins are Mohammad Shamsuddeen and Umar-Faruq.
The naming ceremony of the twins delivered by the governor’s second wife, Hajiya Farida Abdullahi Sule, took place on Tuesday at the Palace of the Chief of Gudu in Akwanga LGA, Alhaji Sule Bawa, who is the father of the governor.
Governor Sule said: “I named them after President Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Umar Tanko Al-Makura for the recognition and respect I have for the two leaders.
“I pledge to continue to champion the quest for better education for the entire children in the state.”
The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, described the twins as a blessing and prayed God to give them sound health, prosperity and make them grow to be good citizens.
The naming ceremony, conducted by Malam Mohammed Awal Musa Dandaura, the Chief Imam of Gudi, featured special prayers for the children, leaders, the state and the country.
The colourful event had in attendance the State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alh. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, amongst others.
