A father of a newborn baby in Ring Road community of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Abdulmuminu Shehu, has explained why he named his newborn baby after President Muhammadu Buhari, despite the current hardship being experienced in the country.
The father said he named his son ‘Buhari’ because he had promised that whenever he gave birth to a baby boy, he would become the namesake of the president, saying he had fulfilled his long-awaited promise: “I am happy to have witnessed the ceremony alive.”
Added to that, Shehu said naming his son ‘Buhari’ was replacement to the action by one Salisu Muhammed, in Gombe State, who recently changed his son’s name from Buhari to Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Shehu, who described the president as someone with good intention for the country, said the president meant well for the country and that was why he would continue to support him.
He said he had never stopped being a big fan of Buhari since 2015.
He said among the 20 in his group who were fans of Buhari, only three of them remained his supporters, adding that they would continue to pray for his success until he finished his second tenure in 2023.
He said though his decision became a topic of discussion and lamentation among his associates, he was never bothered.
Shehu further said he was happy that the president had remained a man of integrity, a quality which even his opponents acknowledged.
