A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State, Hajiya Baraka Sani, has launched an online television station named, Atiku TV to promote the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

The station, according to her, was opened to promote Atiku’s personality for future generations to emulate, describing him as a lifetime investment for Nigeria whose political philosophy should be archived.

Baraka, a former Senior Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Agriculture, however, said the station was not for promoting the former VP’s presidential ambition in 2023.

“The channel is not for marketing Atiku in 2023; he is greater than 2023. We are trying to do so to keep in tune with his political philosophy which will be of help to the youths that are going into the political hemisphere; they have a lot to learn from his wisdom and experience,” she said.

Baraka said the idea of the station came after identifying that over 130 million Nigerians are on social media, most of whom are the youths that constitute over 50% of the country’s voting population, adding that they must be targeted using the appropriate channel.

“In Atiku, there is something for people to learn; that life is not about quitting. It’s about trying over and over so long as you have something good to offer to people. He has almost everything that politics in Nigeria has to offer,” she added.

A former chief whip of the Senate, Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo, described the initiative as timely, adding that it would help in ending thuggery in politics.

“If you go to US and Europe, today political campaigns have gone digital; time has passed for politicians to gather large crowds or hire thugs. All you need is just to address your people and tell them what you have,” Gwarzo added.
