The National Chairman of the ruling APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has said he was compelled to establish Nasarawa State University, Keffi in 2001, due to the bad state of the educational sector when he took over the reins of power in May 1999.
He stated this Tuesday on the occasion of the founder’s day ceremony to mark the 6th combined convocation of the university in Keffi, the headquarters of Keffi Local Government Area of the state.

Earlier, the state Governor, Abdullahi Sule, reiterated his administration’s commitment to making Nasarawa State University, Keffi a global university that would compete with other international universities.
On his part, the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, who expressed worry over inadequate funding of the institution, said it was one of the factors hampering the payment of pensions and gratuity to retired staff, entitlements to families of deceased staff, earned allowances and severance allowances to principal officers who had served the university.
