Why I beheaded my son – Mum

A woman, Blessing Eno, has said that she cut off the head of her 11-month-old boy because he was an irritant in Ugep, Yakurr LGA of Cross River State.

Eno said that the baby disturbed her and that a spirit ordered her to cut off its head to end the disturbance.

“The spirit instructed me to use a machete to cut his head off!” She shouted at a crowd.

A witness said that Eno’s eight-year-old son who stumbled on the gory sight of his brother, as well as his blood-stained mother, inside their house raised alarm.

Meanwhile, the police spokesman in the state, SP Irene Ugbo, said, “It is a homicide case. It has been transferred from Ugep to the state CID homicide department.”

The Obol Lopon of Ugep, HRM Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, said the incident had desecrated the land.

He said, “We appeal to young people in Ugep to toe the path of peace and steer clear of violence.

“We are in shock, but we are calm and have left this matter in the hands of the police, I can assure you that there will be no reprisal action because we must remain law-abiding.”

Child rights campaigner, Barr James Ibor, said, “There is no doubt the lady in question is mentally unstable.”
