Why I am not married at 54 – Nollywood actress

Popular Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has revealed why she’s unmarried at 54.

Speaking during a recent interview with her colleague, Emmanuel Ehumadu, Akintola disclosed that she’s still single because her soul mate died.

She emphasised her reluctance to enter marriage with someone not fully invested in lifelong vows.

The veteran actress said: “He died…I don’t talk about it but he died. Do you know how long it took me to find him, a very long time but he is gone.

“I don’t believe that you get married for marriage’s sake. If you are not going to be truthful to your vows, then why are you doing it? The person wey me fit do forever for don die.

“He’s gone. I am not saying that you can’t have two or three loves in your lifetime but do you know how long it took me to find that one that I knew I could stay with?”

However, the actress acknowledged that if she finds a man that she can spend the rest of her life with, she would remarry, irrespective of her age.

She said: “If I ever see someone and I see forever with that person, I will do it even if I am 82, I will do it but I won’t do it if I don’t see that person.

“I am not able to just stress myself out for anything. Do you know how difficult marriage is? It is difficult, it is very difficult and you will now go on and do it with someone you know you can’t do forever with.”

The movie star acting debut was when she featured in the film Owo Blow in 1995 alongside Femi Adebayo and followed up with Out of Bounds in 1997 with Richard Mofe Damijo.

She was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards.
