Gombe State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Mohammed Adamu Yayari, an aide to Senator Danjuma Goje on new media, was detained by the police for exaggerating the number of party’s exco-members that resigned last week.
Addressing a press conference in Gombe Thursday, the state’s Publicity Secretary of APC, Moses Kyari, said the party petitioned the police to arrest Yayari for ‘maliciously’ saying over 80 per cent of executives in Yamaltu/Deba Local Government area had resigned.

He alleged that Yayari’s post about the purported resignation was orchestrated by Goje and “hatched” at the house of his aide, Danjuma Babayo.
He said the executives were coerced to a meeting in the residence “where they solicited the cooperation and loyalty of the executives to Goje, but no issue of resignation of offices was raised or adopted, but to our utter dismay, Mohammed Yayari went on social media to broadcast outright lies.”
Kyari explained that the party petitioned the police after the APC executives from the Yamaltu/Deba LGA wrote a formal complaint against the duo of Babayo and Yayari.
The APC spokesman dissociated Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya from the arrest of the aide.
