PDF is the most versatile of all digital file formats. It is used worldwide because of the unique features that other file formats fail to provide. A PDF file can be used for anything you need. Whether it is for text documents, presentations, text sheets, vectors, or graphics presentations, a PDF can be used for multiple purposes.

Apart from this, a PDF can be converted into multiple file types including Word, Excel, PPT, JPG, etc using free tools like PDF to Word Converter, PDF to Excel Converter, etc. A PDF document is relatively more secure than other documents and it can be password protected as well as watermarked.

There are multiple reasons why graphic designers use PDFs but in a nutshell, a PDF provides an authentic display of the design and graphics on all devices regardless of the OS or software being used. PDFs present graphics in the most accurate way which is why graphic designers love using them. Let’s look at a list of some reasons why graphic designers love using PDFs:

Retains The Design Format

The first reason why graphic designers love using PDF is that it retains the formatting of their graphics in the most accurate way possible. Anything preserved in the form of a PDF looks the same way as it was created, regardless of the device or operating system used to view the file. Without PDFs, the overall design of the graphics that the designers spend hours making can be messed up, giving a very bad impression.

PDFs allow graphic designers to present their designs and showcase their work in the most accurate form and have a good first impression.

Accurate Color Reproduction

When we talk about graphic designing, having the exact same colors is very important. When printing out a design or sending a presentation to a client, having the exact colors is important because colors represent the design and the whole brand that you are working for. If the colors aren’t accurate, clients won’t like the design and you could end up losing a project.

A client expects to see the most accurate colors while seeing the design for the first time and also when he prints the design. While it is extremely difficult for any software to reproduce the same colors, PDFs authentically reproduce the most accurate colors.

Editable PDF Files

As a graphic designer, you need multiple revisions and your designs will need a little bit of editing and changes every time because clients are never satisfied. Although these changes are mostly minor like changing the font, changing colors, or changing the design of the text, saving a file in other formats makes them uneditable. This means that if you save a file in a JPG or PNG form, it will be uneditable and you won’t be able to make changes to edit it again and will have to redesign everything from scratch.

No designer wants to go through all of this, which is why they use PDF instead. A graphic design or logo design can be saved in an editable PDF format through which you can make minor changes to the design at any time you want to without having to redesign everything from the scratch.

More Optimization Options Available

Another reason why graphic designers love using PDFs is that they can be optimized easily. Compared to a Word document, that not only takes a lot of space but has limited optimization options available, a PDF file is highly optimizable, takes a lot less space, can be merged with other PDFs, and can be password protected. Due to this optimization, most people tend to convert their Word documents into PDF using the Word to PDF Converter by Lua.

Keeps Custom Fonts Preserved In The File

While working with graphics, one has to be highly creative and one of the ways to be creative is to use custom fonts. Using custom fonts sets you apart from the rest of the designers and every client expects their logo or design to be highly creative and unique. For this reason, graphic designers tend to use custom fonts but most clients only have the default fonts. With other documents like Word, clients won’t be able to even see the design properly because they don’t have the customer font installed.

Whereas, with a PDF document, nothing like this will happen because PDF embeds the font in the file and doesn’t require the font to be installed. So, even if clients don’t have a custom font, they can still see the design as it was created.
