A member of a secret cult, Kabiru Garba, whose gang members have been operating in Ikorodu and its suburbs for quite some time, has explained that cultists usually go out with guns out of fear of possible attacks by rival cult gang members.
The suspect, who police described as notorious, on Igbogbo Ikorodu Road had a Berretta pistol recovered from him.
In his confessional statement to the police, he said, “Boys in our ‘hood’ go out with their guns to ward off any attack by rival cult gangs. It is only a foolish man that will allow himself to be killed by an imbecile (referring to rival gang members).
“Ikorodu is hood and I cannot allow anyone to mess me up, whether prepared or not.”
The state’s police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, “Preliminary investigation has begun to unravel more details about the suspect, his activities and the source of the firearm. The suspect would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation.”
