General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev Paul Emeka  has said that his refusal  to allow brazen  stealing by some leaders of the  church is the root cause of the persistent  crises in  the church.
Rev Emeka said it was unimaginable how people who pose as leaders of the  church openly  steal from the church and come out to proclaim  holiness and claim to be representing God.
Speaking at the end of the annual retreat of the church, Emeka said he could not  allow the level of corruption and looting that went on in the church to continue as it was totally against God’s standard.
He told the congregation at the National Secretariat of the church in Enugu that it was the highest level of hypocrisy, stressing that he  was optimistic that God would restore the church to the path of unity. Emeka who led the members to pray for unity in the church, said God allowed the crisis to “teach us that we are not yet where we ought to be”.
He added: “We will continue to pray that God in his mercies will intervene and restore the church as one. These two years have gone with many broken spirits”.
He said which calls itself “Ambassadors of the kingdom” with the support  of a retired  General Superintendent of the church gathered and plotted how to remove him from office.
Emeka  said he had however forgiven them and urged them to repent to avoid the wrath of God.
