The member representing Bida/Gbako/Katcha in the House of Representatives, Sa’idu Musa Abdullahi, has said the establishment of a Federal College of Agriculture in Katcha, Niger State, will help in the promotion of agricultural production and innovation.
Abdullahi, who was pushing for the creation of the college through a bill which has passed second reading at the House, said the aim was to have an institution that will produce agriculturalists with a clear understanding of Nigeria’s agricultural needs and capabilities to harness its potentials.
“The overall intention is to secure a national mandate to develop and offer academic and professional programmes leading to the award of certificates in National Diploma and Higher National Diploma with emphasis on planning, developmental and adaptive skills in the field of agriculture,” he said.
