I asked him one-on-one after he started speaking since the incident what he knew about the device. He told me that the device was discovered by the late Harisu Lawan while they were moving in the bush around a rail track near the community. They went to some farms where sweet potatoes were harvested to scavenge from the left of the crop.

In the process, the deceased discovered the device and took it back home, which led to the incident he added. Dungu further explained that the deceased had attempted to sell the device to a girl hawker within the community known as Fauziya Iliyasu, who had also been injured by the explosion, he explained.

Meanwhile, the parents of the two deceased who arrived in the community from Yargoje village in Kankara LGA in Katsina State, following the incident, left back home yesterday, without conducting funerals for their children. Speaking about the development yesterday, one of the residents of the Kuchibuyi Iliya Shuaibu said all efforts to get the police approval for the release of the two corpses for the funeral prayer were not successful.

Father to the late Harisu, Lawan Ahmad, and that of late Najib, Ibrahim Isa, left in the early morning today back to Katsina state, as all efforts to get the release of the two corpses were not successful, he lamented.
