The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad said the abscondment rate of pilgrims in Saudi Arabia has been reduced.
He made the remark in a key note address at a one day symposium organized by Manara Satellite Television Station, in Abuja, yesterday.
“The abscondment rate of pilgrims has been reduced to the barest minimum that the Saudi Minister of Hajj, Dr Muhammad Saleh Benten advised other countries to adopt Nigeria’s methods of reducing abscondment cases to the barest minimum,” he said.
According to him, the commission has moved from being a burden on government and gradually attaining financial independence in line with the vision of its founding fathers.
Chairman of Manara Satellite Television and National Chairman of Izalatul Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah, Shaikh Abdullahi Bala Lau said the one day symposium was to create awareness on best ways to handle hajj operations.
