We’re ready to take down Bayana Bayana — Nnadozie

Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie has said she alongside her mates are not afraid of South Africa as both teams clash today in the final round of the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers.

Speaking ahead of the game, Nnadozie further urged Nigerians to come out en masse and cheer them to victory.

“We want our people to come to the stadium and support us. The Super Falcons do not fear any team. With their support, we will play with total confidence and overcome,” said goalkeeper Nnadozie.

In the same vein, the Super Falcons’ camp has been boosted by the arrival of former Liverpool and Barcelona Femení forward Asisat Oshoala.

The Super Falcons announced the arrival of the overseas-based three players yesterday and further said there are now 22 players in camp in Abuja.

While she hasn’t been at her best, her presence on the field would still worry any defence and that could also prove to be a psychological boost for the team.

The arrival of the duo of Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo has also been confirmed which means all players invited for the crucial two-legged tie are now in camp.

Okoronkwo scored the only goal against Cameroon which booked Nigeria a place in the final qualification round and is another attacking threat for Randy Waldrum’s ladies.

Ihezuo on the other hand staged a big return to the side with her last notable appearance being in last year’s Revelation Cup, held in Mexico.

Nigeria will be seeking to gain an advantage over South Africa in tomorrow’s tie at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja ahead of the return leg next Tuesday.

Both teams will clash again in Pretoria on April 10 to determine who will qualify for the summer Olympics in Paris.

Super Falcons last appearance at the Olympics was in 2008 in China.
