The acting Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has said the service is currently deploying innovations to improve its revenue generation mandate.

Adewale stated this yesterday during the decoration of the newly appointed management staff of the service which took place at the customs headquarters in Abuja.

Adeniyi noted that Nigeria is at a point of economic depression which is why the NCS stepped up its operational mandate to boost revenue growth in order to keep the economy afloat.

“The expectations of the government and Nigerians now are very high now that the country is experiencing economic depression. As such, the new management promotion is a call for dedication and innovation in order to meet these expectations and mandate,” he said.

Speaking further, he charged the newly appointed Deputy Comptroller Generals of Customs (DCGs) and Assistant Comptroller Generals of Customs (ACGs) to deploy technology in their operations in order to improve efficiency.

He added that the service is currently addressing issues regarding trade barriers in line with the new Nigeria Customs Service Act which was signed in May by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
