The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar, has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Air Force under his watch to the welfare of its personnel.
The NAF chief, who spoke at the 115 Special Operation Group (SOG), NAF Base in Port Harcourt, Rivers state at the weekend , said the Nigerian Air Force will spare no effort to ensure that its personnel are comfortable within available resources.
Air Marshall Abubakar who was represented by the Chief of Planning and Policy at the NAF headquarters in Abuja, Air Vice Marshall Muhammed A. Muhammed, said the various projects embarked upon across NAF units to meet the accommodation and other welfare needs of its personnel are of absolute necessity.
“I am glad to visit the NAF base, Port Harcourt once more to commission the new 18×1 Corporals and Below Quarters and to carry out operational visits to the home of our combat helicopters to access our operational readiness as the year comes to an end.
“The various projects embarked upon across NAF units to meet the accommodation and other welfare needs of personnel are therefore of absolute necessity in the heart of this base.
At a time when NAF is expanding rapidly, it is important to place premium on the welfare needs of personnel given the various projects embarked upon across NAF units.
“You are all aware that this year we have reactivated an M-35P helicopter-NAF 531 in-house. The helicopter has already been deployed for operations.
“Similarly, a periodic depot maintenance has commenced on Mi-35 helicopter NFA-530; it is hoped that Mi-25 helicopter would become serviceable within the first Quarter of 2019.
“The in-house reactivation of EC-135 helicopter, NFA 549 has also reached an advanced stage. All these efforts are geared towards enhancing the NAF operational efficiency in the discharge of our constitutional roles,” he said.
