We’re committed to building a robust economy in Yobe – Buni

Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni has said his administration is committed to boosting a robust economy in the state through revitalisation of the agricultural sector in the interest of the people.

Buni stated this while receiving an “agricultural revitalization strategy document” from Crystal Associate Consultants under the auspices of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation led by Prof Mohammed Kuta Yahaya Friday in Abuja.

He said the document was aimed at assisting the Yobe State government in the implementation of its agricultural policies aimed at developing the state.

Reading the governor’s speech during the occasion, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Mallam Wali, said the state was poised to empower citizens, particularly the farming population to move away from subsistence farming to modern agricultural production.

“The aim behind the lofty initiative is to build a solid, vibrant and robust economy in our state using agriculture as the launching pad.

“In a deliberate attempt to achieve our goals in the sector, the Yobe State government in collaboration with the federal government has concluded plans for the establishment of three Livestock Development Centres, one in each of the three senatorial districts of the state.

“We also have plans for enhancement of poultry and fish production as well as irrigation farming”, he said.
