We’ll replace Ardos who refuse to return to Zangon Kataf — Agwatyap

The Agwatyap and paramount ruler of Atyap people in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State has warned that any Fulani Ardo who failed to return to the Atyap chiefdom would be replaced.

The Agwatyap, Dominic Gambo Yahaya, while receiving the interim report of activities from the Peace and Security Partnership Committee, said he would replace them with new ardos if the ones who fled the chiefdom as a result of the recent crisis in the area failed to return.

The committee was constituted by the Atyap traditional council as a fallout of the peace summit organised by the Agwatyap in the aftermath of the crisis that engulfed the chiefdom.

He said any Ardo who has the chiefdom at heart should have returned to consolidate on the already established peaceful atmosphere and assured that the committee would continue to work towards ensuring enduring peace among the different ethnic groups in the chiefdom.

The traditional ruler encouraged his people to use traditional institutions at all levels to amicably settle disputes that may arise among them.

Earlier, the chairman of the committee, John Bala Ade, enumerated some of the progress so far achieved, which include ensuring amicable resolution, through dialogue, of land and boundary disputes between Zango Urban and Gidan Zaki districts.

The committee chairman said most of the Fulani that fled in Gora Gan district had returned and are being aided to harvest their crops while 95 percent of those in Unguwan Gaiya district never fled their homes.

He also informed the Agwatyap that they were partnering with various non-governmental organisations in the course of peace building in the chiefdom and thanked security agencies and district and village heads for their roles in achieving peace.
