We’ll protect your interest, Oil Free Zone Assures Host Communities

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas Free Zones, Authority, Nigeria (OGFZA), Sen. Tijjani Kaura, has assured host communities of free Zone locations around the country of protecting their basic interests while pursuing the goals of the Authority.

In a statement, the OGFZA Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications, Golda Ukomadu, quoted Senator Kaura as saying this during his recent consultation and familiarization tour of Akwa Ibom State.

Kaura reportedly said OGFZA needs open frontiers of collaboration with its host states, saying that the free trade zone needed the support of the State Government in actualizing the maximum productivity level of the Liberty Oil and Gas Free Zone.

The statement described the Liberty Oil and Gas Zone project as critical to the economic viability for Akwa Ibom State given its potential to attract over $22 billion investments and generate employment for the Nigerian youths.

The statement added that the Liberty Oil and Gas Free Zone was strategically located and on completion would be the largest in the country.

It appealed for a state-based agency to interface with OGFZA in order to achieve the goals of Free Zone, while soliciting for state government intervention in building basic infrastructure to enhance synergy with OGFZA and harmonizing interests of host communities and other stakeholders in the project.
