The panel set up by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to receive petitions arising from the outcome of the state’s congress in Kano State has said it will only consider petitions filed from the congress conducted at the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium which produced Abdullahi Abbas (Ganduje’s loyalist) as state chairman of the party.
Chairman of the committee, Dr Tony Macfoy, stated this at the inauguration of the panel in Kano yesterday.
Daily Trust on Sunday reports that a group led by a former governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, and some lawmakers held a parallel congress which produced Ahmadu Danzago as state chairman.
According to Macfoy, the national headquarters of APC had sent him to listen to petitions on congress held at Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium only; adding that he would not entertain any complaints contrary to what he was assigned to do.
He emphasized that as far as the national body of the ruling APC was concerned, no other congress held in Kano except the one conducted at the Indoor Stadium, adding that it was the election recognized by the national secretariat of the party.
The chairman explained that the panel would be sitting at the state’s secretariat of the party for three days with effect from Saturday (yesterday) to Monday between 10am to 4pm.
