The Federal Government will engage youths from the north to tackle insecurity.

The Minister of Environment, Mohammed Abubakar, said this when the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW) organised training and empowerment for carefully selected youths and women.

The participants were selected from various communities in Jigawa and Kano States under the agency’s skill acquisition training and empowerment programme.

NAGGW is a Federal Government agency in the vanguard of “Transforming Nigerian Drylands” especially, in the frontline states of NAGGW including Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara.

The training programme, held in Kano, was intended to create alternative streams of sustainable livelihoods for the dwellers of the frontline States.

The minister noted that the training was the first of its kind in Northern Nigeria which he noted underscores the need for an experienced trainer to kick start the training programme.
