The National Youths Council of Nigeria says it will decide who will lead the country this year. Its national president, Bello Shagari, urged the youth not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause mayhem.

He stated this while felicitating Nigerian youths at home and in the Diaspora for their achievements in the past year. He advised them not to sell their votes but to cast their votes wisely and remain agents and advocates of free, fair and credible elections.

“Nigeria must continue to win and democracy must be sustained,” he said. Shagari noted that Nigerian youths in 2018 revolutionized the nation’s politics by standing together to ensure the passage of the Not-Too-Young-to-Run Bill.

He stated: “We are the testament of this great nation’s hope, strength and resilience. It rests upon our shoulders to ensure that the new year is better than the last one.”
