We’ll appeal judgment nullifying APC primaries in Rivers – Tonye Cole

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, jas vowed to appeal the court judgment that nullified the party’s primaries in the state.

Cole disclosed this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt had nullified all primary elections conducted by the APC in Rivers State over what it described as “unlawful exclusion of some party members as delegates to the primaries.”

An aggrieved governorship aspirant of the party in the state, Bernard Mikko, had dragged  Cole to the court over alleged violation of the electoral act and indictment of a panel report against the candidate.

But speaking during the interview, Cole said they would appeal the judgment.

He said, “The outcome at Rivers State level of this case is always going in this way; it is not something that we were that concerned about. What we have looked at is to make sure justice takes its course. So we are going to appeal and in appeal we know that there is going to be turnover.

“The second thing you talked about is that there is an alleged exclusion. The party made a very clear pronouncement right at the process, inviting all parties who bought forms to come to the party’s secretariat to declare themselves and these characters have nothing to show.

“We have not stopped our campaign. we continued with our programmes. We have continued what we have exactly set up to do.”
