A 24-year-old welder, Musa Zuberu, has been arraigned for allegedly killing one Muhammed Abubakar for ritual purposes in the Okuta community in Baruten LGA of Kwara State.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant, Umar Taberu, caught the suspect with the decomposing head of the deceased.
The charge sheet added further that Zuberu claimed to have been sent to kill the victim by some people when he was questioned.
The FIR reads in part: “You (Zuberu) carried the suspect on your motorbike, and while on transit, Mohammed Abubakar (victim) said he wanted to make a call.

“You took him to a high rocky place, telling him there was network on the hill, and while he was busy making calls, you took his machete which he placed on the seat of your motorcycle and attacked him.
“While he fell unconscious on the ground, you cut off his head which you intended to take to Benin Republic for money ritual purposes.”
The prosecutor, Gbenga Ayeni, urged the court to remand the suspect.
The Magistrate, Gbadeyan Kamson, ordered the remand of the suspect and adjourned to June 20, 2023.
