We won’t victimise legitimate businesses – Customs

The Nigerian Customs Service has assured it will never victimize any legitimate business in any area

The Comptroller of Customs in charge of the Federal Operation Unit Zone C’ Owerri, Mohammed Uba Garba, who gave the assurance, similarly said he would not entertain any sacred cow as anyone involved in any fowl play would be treated according to the provisions of the law.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the unit, Ifeoma Ojekwu, said Garba made the commitments while supervising the seizures of 17 prohibited items recorded for the month of January.

The statement said the Customs Area Controller justified government’s ban on used tyres by the accidents that such usually faulty tyres cause on the nation’s highways.
