The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been advised to avoid anything that could lead to the party’s defeat at the November 18 election in Anambra State.
A group, Fresh Congress Group (FCG), gave the advice in a statement signed by the state Chairman, Pastor Emma Obiorah, and made available to reporters.
The group vowed to resist imposition of any governorship candidate on them by anybody or group, saying the PDP had suffered for the past 11 years in the state.
It applauded the NEC of the party for choosing Prof. ABC Nwosu as the new helmsman of PDP in the state, adding that what killed the party in the state before now was extorting money from aspirants by those at the top.
“It is on record that Anambra remains a PDP state, but due to the activities of the former national executives of the party taking decisions against the wishes of the party faithful and sympathisers in meddling with the choice of the people at the grassroots, PDP lost focus and derailed in gubernatorial elections since the year 2006,” the group said.
