Four gunmen arrested in the residence of Senator Mohammed Sani Musa in Minna, Niger State, have told the police that they were sent to kidnap him.
Police spokesman in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement on Monday, said the suspects revealed during police interrogation that they were hinted by one Sherif that the senator was travelling to Niger State for the coronation and presentation of staff of office to the Emir of Kagara.
The statement reads in part: “Additional facts emerged in the course of investigation as one of the suspects confessed further that the hoodlums led by the said Sheriff, presently at large, trailed the senator to his home in Minna.
“The hoodlums suspected that he would be at home having attended the coronation ceremony at Kagara on the same date and to possibly kidnap him.”
Daily Trust further reports that the gunmen invaded the residence of Senator on Saturday night during which four of them were arrested.
