Two members of a robbery gang, simply identified as Okoro (45) and Patience (42), who operate as commercial bus drivers, also known as “one chance”, have confessed targeting travellers visiting Lagos State for the first time.
The suspects who were arrested at the weekend claimed that the vulnerable state of first-time travellers to Lagos made it easier for them to be robbed.
In his confessional statement to the police, while noting that those coming to Lagos for the first time jumped into any available vehicle, Okoro said, “This makes it easier for us. We drive to any obscure place to rob them of their belongings, which are usually phones and cash.”
Lagos State police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed their arrest, said information revealed that some set of suspected thieves usually operated around Okusosun in the Ojota area of the state.
