Farouq Halidu, one of the suspects who allegedly conspired with his brother, Aliyu, to kill their cousin, Idris Hamah, to steal his motorcycle has attributed their action to destiny.
He said, “It was kadara (destiny) that made us kill him. We beat him with a stick until he died. I am 21 years old, a farmer and married with children. I will not be happy if someone kills my children. I regret our action,” he told City & Crime.

According to the charge sheet, the suspects: “Ambushed Hamah and beat him with a stick till he died before they slaughtered him and went away with his new Bajaj motorcycle while coming from Gwasera market in Baruten LGA.”
