Former aviation minister and memner of the screening committee, Vice presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, Osita Chidoka, has said that the running mate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa was screened after he was announced.
Chidoka disclosed this when he appeared on Channels Television’s political programme, Politics Today.

He said, “We only screened the person nominated by the presidential candidate so we were not presented with options, it was just to screen him. It was after the announcement that we went to the screening.
“He is already a governor but we had to go through that process to confirm his documents, certificates and all that is required by law to make him qualified to be on that ticket.”
The former aviation boss also revealed that there is wide acceptability of Okowa as Atiku’s running mate.
“The choice of Ifeanyi Okowa like I said, I wasn’t part of the process that chose him, but I could see that there is wide acceptability amongst party people.
“Of course there would be disappointments for those who dididn’t make the final cut, and many of us had opinions about who should and who shouldn’t but we have today is that Atiku Abubakar is going to run with Ifeanyi Okowa and that’s where we are and I think that that has generated some form of wide acceptability within the party.”
