Nasarawa State governor, Abdullahi Sule has restated the adoption of Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, as the recognized candidate of the APC in the state, for the position of the national chairman of the party.
Sule made his position known in a chat with journalists immediately after meeting with Senator Al-makura in Abuja.
Responding to questions from journalists seeking clarification, especially as Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has also joined the race for the national chairman of the APC, the governor affirmed that as a Nigerian, Senator Adamu has the right to contest for the position but the party in Nasarawa State has already adopted Senator Al-Makura.
According to him, Senator Al-Makura represented the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), leading to the merger of the legacy parties in 2013 which gave rise to the APC.
He said, “If there is any face of the CPC in Nigeria, apart from President Buhari, it is Tanko Al-Makura.”
Sule emphasized that Senator Adamu has the right to contest in a democracy but the APC in Nasarawa State had endorsed Senator Al-Makura.
“Senator Adamu is a Nigerian. He is a member of the APC. He has the right to contest like any other Nigerian. But as a state, we have endorsed Tanko Al-makura,” the governor maintained.
