On a yearly basis, houses and property worth billions of naira are washed away due to flood. In its wake, it leaves behind heartbroken people who have lost their sources of livelihood.

Unfortunately, it appears as if no matter the level of warning given by the relevant agencies, houses still get destroyed and people still lose property. It is important for the nation to look for a solution to this problem. Drainage should be built all across the country and those that are filled up with dirt should be cleared before the rains begin so that water can flow freely. Also those who live in flood- prone areas need to vacate those places. Government should assist them to move so that the losses suffered yearly can reduce.
