Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, yesterday, urged Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion and colour to unite and build the country.
Sanwo-Olu made the call at the 30th anniversary of the June 12, 1993, elections at the late Chief MKO Abiola’s residence in Ikeja.
He said that during the June 12 elections, Nigerians came together to vote massively for Abiola, whom they believed would transform the country.
The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, said that in the memory of all the great men and women who were murdered because of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, citizens must come together to build the nation.
Speaking earlier, Abiola’s daughter, Ayo, thanked the state government for always acknowledging the struggles of her late father.
She said that a testament to the struggle of June 12 saw Asiwaju Bola Tinubu elected as the president of the country.
