We must end indiscriminate attacks on law enforcement agents

The constant attacks on the agents of the Nigeria Police, army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) need to be properly addressed before they escalate to a difficult to menace.

SB Morgan, a Nigerian intelligence gathering group had quoted in its extensive research report published last year that 495 police officers were killed between 2015 – 2021.

At the peak of the EndSAR protest in 2020 – about 20 police stations were burnt down alongside other national infrastructure.

Members of the Department of State Security Services (DSS) were not left out with several officers of the agency murdered in cold blood.

There is a need for proper reorientation of Nigerians against resisting arrest, being uncooperative to security agents, or attacking security agents.

Nigerians should also be aware that if anyone acts along this line, security agents reserve the right to defend themselves by every means necessary.
