We lost corps member to accident not banditry – NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reacted to a report in circulation, which claimed that one corps member, Mamudo Sa’idu Obaje KT/23B/1153 was killed by bandits on his way from Kaduna to Katsina State for his monthly biometrics.

A statement signed by Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, disclosed that the corps member died in an accident but not killed by bandits.

He explained that the corps member who was serving at Government Girls’ College, Katsina, was on transit from Kaduna to Katsina on Thursday 4th January, 2024 and was involved in a motor accident at Gayaza in Kankia LGA of Katsina State alongside other passengers.

He noted that two of the passengers, including the corps member, lost their lives in the auto crash.

“While the NYSC family nationwide has been thrown into mourning from this tragic event, management has also commiserated with the family of the deceased corps member over the loss of the gallant patriot who died while in active service to his fatherland.

“NYSC wishes to once again call on bloggers to always be factual in their reportage in order not to cause unnecessary apprehension in the society, because of fictitious and unprofessional publications, which contradicts the ethics of good journalism,” he said.
