The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima has described late ex-Borno State Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Usman Jidda Shuwa as an icon who had impeccable good track records in administrative and leadership prowess.
Senator Shettima stated this yesterday shortly after the funeral prayer and burial of the deceased in Maiduguri
The VP, who spoke at the Presidential Lodge of the Government House Maiduguri, said the late Shuwa was a great titan and man of good disposition.
“We are surely going to miss his wise counselling, intellect, work, capacity and commitment to good governance.

“No one is indispensable in life. We are all going to pass away. But I would like to say that during his lifetime, he has worked with the locals. He was a man of integrity with huge leadership knowledge as an institute,” Shettima said.
The Vice President was accompanied by the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, Governors Babagana Zulum (Borno)and Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), former governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Bagudu and Borno counterpart, Senator Maina Ma’aji.
Others included National Deputy Chairman of APC, Senator Abubakar Kyari, National Assembly members, Senator Ali Ndume, Senator-elect, Kaka Shehu Lawan, Hon. Aliyu Betara Mukhtar, Hon. Ahmed Jaha Babawo, Hon. Bukar Talba and Borno State House of Assembly members among others.
Chief Imam of Borno, Shaikh Imam Ahmed Laisu led the funeral prayer at the deceased residence, Gambole Road, Old GRA Maiduguri, on Sunday around 2 pm amidst large Muslims that gathered at his residence before his remains were laid to rest at Gwange Cemetery along with Bama Road, Maiduguri.
It would be recalled that Late Alhaji Usman Jidda Shuwa after his retirement from federal civil service was appointed Chairman of the Borno State Teaching Service Board by the Vice President, Senator Shettima when he was Borno State governor in 2011 before reappointing him as Borno State Secretary to the State Government (SSG) between 2015 and 2019 and later, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum reappointed him as SSG in 2019 to 2023.
