The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it has no records of the governorship and deputy governorship candidates of the Labour Party (LP) for the 2023 elections in Ogun State.

The commission also said the party did not submit the names of its candidates for the 26 House of Assembly seats in the state.

INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Niyi Ijalaye, disclosed this in Abeokuta on Monday.

The commission released the names of 13 governorship and deputy governorship candidates of different political parties contesting the 2023 gubernatorial election last Saturday.

INEC also released the names of House of Assembly candidates of various political parties, but LP candidates’ names were not on the list.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Abayomi Arabambi, blamed the development on “administrative error”.

He said, “Yes, I’m aware that the Labour Party is missing from the list, but it is an administrative error on the part of the commission. We are going to Abuja tomorrow (Tuesday) to correct this.
