Bingham University, Karu, in Nasarawa State has disclosed that its subsidiary, Zankli Research Centre, has the capacity to test and produce result sample of COVID-19 in one hour.
The Director of the centre, Dr. John Bimba, said, “The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has approved Bingham University’s Zankli Research Centre to commence private testing for COVID-19.
“We have a maximum capacity of 300 tests per day and each sample could be ready in one hour. We use GeneXpert Xpress Cartridges that have the capacity to give results in less than an hour.”
According to him, the centre was activated and approved for COVID-19 testing on June 16, 2020, by NCDC. Dr. Bimba said the centre had been in existence for TB, HIV and other research work.
“It is an out-patient centre for test of samples only and does not have bed capacity,” he added.
