We are failing the youth in Nigeria – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has rued kidnapping of students, saying the country is failing the youth.

He spoke Friday at Baze University graduation ceremony in Abuja.

He cited the UNESCO reports which showed that Nigeria had more children out of school than in any other country in the world.

Atiku, in a speech titled, “Solving Nigeria’s Education Challenges,” said societies would transform if girls and women were educated.

Teachers, he added, must be trained to use new technologies to engage students in learning.

The Peoples Democratic Party chieftain said with the right leadership, a poor child could be educated and become anything he or she wanted.

“That is why I am fully committed to advocacy for and investment in education so that the inability to pay should not preclude any Nigerian child from realizing his/her full potentials,” he said.
