She explained that the state government had done so much in the education sector, health, and security; by providing an enabling environment for the children to grow and be protected as their safety is very important being the future leaders of the state and the nation at large.

UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office Kaduna, Dr Zakari Adam, represented by UNICEF’s Child Protection Specialist, Dr Wilfred Mamah, said milestones achievement for child protection in the state had been made by working in partnership with the state government.

Speaking on the theme for the year; “30 years after the adoption of the Charter: accelerate implementation of Agenda 2040 for an Africa fit for children”,  he said; “the day of the African Child is not just a day that comes and goes, rather it is a permanent reality that ought to be etched in our consciousness,” adding that, “in absence of children, our humanity is lost.”

The UNICEF Chief, who applauded the exemplary leadership of Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i, noted that; “despite the seemingly insurmountable challenges, we are delighted to have a vibrant and articulate state government that has prioritized the interests of children.”
