Umar El-Yakub, Minister of State for Works and Housing, says his ministry is creating jobs with the construction of housing estates across the country.

He said this Tuesday in Abuja while carrying out inspection on the Federal Housing Authority’s (FHA) 1085 housing units in Zuba and Bwari communities.

The minister, while speaking at the Zuba site, expressed appreciation for the level of work at the site and assured its residents of quality infrastructure, and adequate facilities when commissioned.

El-Yakub assured that when the estate is commissioned all the required facilities would be put in place, adding that it would be commissioned soon.

At the Bwari site, which was opened up in May, he also expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work done.

He said the site had impacted the economy of the people, adding that over 72 contractors were engaged, while about 3500 were engaged for direct jobs with scores of Nigerians earning their living through the indirect jobs on the site.

The FHA MD, Senator Ashafa, said the estate would be delivered in 2024, adding that it would be done in phases.

He explained that the 337 units would be delivered in the next 36 months, and prayed that it would not experience any financial delay, adding that its off-takers are readily available because of its proximity to the JAMB office, and the Nigerian Law School in Bwari.
