Water tops Katsina’s N340.9bn 2022 budget

Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has presented N340,951,912,557.00 budget for the 2022 fiscal year with water resources having the largest chunk with N41,038,773,669.00 (17.23%,).

While presenting the budget before the Katsina State House of Assembly on Wednesday, Masari said the budget tagged, “Budget of Economic Resilience,” was designed to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones in the state. 

He said despite the minor setback suffered by the 2021 budget due to security challenges, the state had recorded success in its implementation.

The governor said the 2022 budget was higher than that of 2021 revised budget by N48,064,131,214.00 with N102,800,756,244.00 for recurrent and N238,151,156,313.00 for capital.

“The 2022 budget is designed to complete ongoing projects and initiate other capital projects that can be completed within the life of this administration,” he said. 

He added that the amount projected to finance the 2022 budget is N175,105,396,188.00 with N61,664,771,966.00 expected from internally generated revenues (IGR), N100,940,624,222.00 revenue receivable through the federation account with an opening balance of N12,500,000,000.00.

Education has N29,476,864,246.00, (12.38%), health N30,618,448,342.00 (12.86%), agriculture – N26,221,092,732.00 (11.01%,), works – N27,035,227,783.00 (11.35%), and environment – N33,092,117,965.00 (13.90%). 

The speaker, Alhaji Tasi’u Maigari, promised speedy consideration and passage of the budget before the end of the year.
