Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has ordered the immediate distribution of diesel to all boreholes in Damaturu and its environs to ease the problem of water scarcity being faced in the past few days.
This is as the residents of Damaturu were battling with water scarcity due to poor electricity supply occasioned by the destruction of a 330KVA electricity line by vandals.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Malam Wali, disclosed that, “The governor said there was enough diesel for distribution to enable the powering of all boreholes in the affected areas”, promising that the problem would be resolved immediately.

He assured residents that pumping and supply of water to some areas of Damaturu and environs will resume immediately.
