WASSCE: Beware of rogue website operators, WAEC warns candidates, parents

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has decried the unwholesome activities of “rogue website operators” in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2022.

The WASSCE for School Candidates, which commenced on May 16, is expected to end on June 23 as earlier announced by the Council’s Head of Nigeria National Office, Mr. Patrick Areghan.

WAEC in a statement issued by its Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adeyegbe, disclosed that the unpatriotic individuals see WASSCE and other examinations as business ventures and avenue to make money, as they deceive innocent and gullible candidates and their parents.

“They lure candidates and their parents by proposing shortcuts to examination success. They lie to them that WAEC questions can be accessed earlier than the due date. This is nothing but a lie. They perpetrate their dastardly acts through various social media platforms, such as Blogs, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Telegram,” she said, lamenting that rogue website operators are hell-bent on sabotaging the efforts and concrete arrangements put in place by the Council to ensure the successful conduct of the examination.

While Adeyegbe revealed that some candidates have fallen prey to the “trash” being served on the rogue platforms and as such, no longer read their books because of the promise of access to ‘WAEC questions’; she assured that WAEC puts firm security measures in place to protect the integrity of its test items.

The Council therefore advised parents to encourage their children/wards to study hard and desist from patronizing the evil peddlers who are all out to destroy the destiny of their children/wards.
